As part of preparations for the upcoming Under-19 World Cup, the Bangladesh U19 team is playing a five-match One Day International (ODI) series at home against Afghanistan U19. However, the series schedule has been revised midway.
After the first two matches held in Bogura, Bangladesh, led by Azizul Hakim Tamim, leads 1–0. The opening match at Shaheed Chandu Stadium was cut short due to poor light, with the hosts securing a 5-run victory via the DLS method. The second match was called off due to heavy fog and a wet outfield.
Originally, the final three ODIs were scheduled for Nov. 3, 6, and 9, but the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a revised schedule because of weather conditions. The remaining matches in Rajshahi will now take place on Nov. 5, 7, and 9 respectively.
The second match had been scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Bangladesh time on Friday, but dense fog prevented even the toss from happening. After a four-hour wait, the match was abandoned.
In the first ODI, Afghanistan batted first after winning the toss and scored 265/9. In response, Bangladesh managed 231/4 in 46 overs before play was stopped due to poor light. Using the DLS method, Bangladesh claimed a 5-run victory.
Iqbal Hossain Emon was named player of the match for his exceptional bowling, taking 5 wickets for 57 runs in 10 overs. With the bat, Kalam Siddiqui starred with a brilliant 101 runs off 119 balls, including 11 fours, playing a key role in Bangladesh’s win.
