Despite Australia losing the third T20 against India by five wickets, Tim David made history with a colossal six measuring 129 meters.
On Sunday (Nov. 2) at the Beliv Oval, David came to the crease after Travis Head and Josh Inglis fell for just 14 runs. In sublime form, he immediately attacked the Indian bowlers and reached a half-century off just 23 balls.
During his innings, David smashed a massive six off Akshar Patel, sending the ball down the ground. The shot nearly cleared the stadium but ultimately struck the “Ninja Stadium” signboard above the boundary bunting.
The six traveled 129 meters, making it the longest recorded six in international T20 history, according to Fox Cricket statistics. Analysts note that had the ball not hit the signboard, it would have carried the full distance.
Fox Cricket commentator Mark Howard exclaimed: “That’s coming straight towards our commentary box! Down the ground! It almost landed in the Derwent River!”
For context, the longest official six in cricket history remains 153 meters, hit by Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi in a 2013 ODI. Other notable long hits include Brett Lee’s 143-meter six at the Gabba Test and Chris Lynn’s 121-meter Big Bash six off Sean Tait, also at the Gabba. Now, Tim David surpasses Lynn to stake his claim in the record books.
