Despite winning the three-match ODI series against the West Indies in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh suffered a whitewash in the T20 series in Chattogram due to severe batting collapses under Liton Das’s leadership.
Bangladeshi fans expressed frustration at their home team’s poor performance, booing the Tigers with chants of “Bhua Bhua” (fake, fake) after the three-match series defeat.
Reacting to the disrespect, West Indies captain Darren Sammy said, “I heard the crowd saying ‘Bhua Bhua’ or something like that. I don’t know exactly what it means. Every player wants to perform well, and you should support them.”
Sammy also praised Bangladeshi supporters, calling them enthusiastic and affectionate. “Bangladeshi fans are amazing. Whenever I come here, I always admire them. Even though I’m not playing now, they always show love,” he said.
During West Indies’ practice sessions, Sammy noted several talented Bangladeshi net bowlers. He added, “I have visited Bangladesh many times over the last 15 years. The people here are wonderful. We appreciate the net bowlers too. When you see talent, you guide them well. I have seen some fantastic talent in the nets.”
