The National Citizens’ Party (NCP) has decided not to field any candidates in the constituencies where BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is contesting in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
NCP’s Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary confirmed the decision to the media on Tuesday (4 November).
A day earlier, on Monday (3 November), the BNP announced its initial list of candidates for 237 constituencies ahead of the 13th national election. According to the list, Khaleda Zia is set to contest from Feni-1, Dinajpur-3, and Bogura-7.
Although NCP had earlier declared that it would nominate candidates in all 300 constituencies, the party reversed course just a day after the BNP published its candidate list, announcing that they would not submit candidates in constituencies allocated to Khaleda Zia.
