A meeting chaired by Rehana Parvin, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, on Tuesday (4 November) approved the new decision.
According to the new decision, colleges that only offer Honor’s courses will be able to include 5 teachers under the MPO (Monthly Pay Order) scheme, while colleges offering both Honor’s and Masters programs will be able to include 7 teachers.
A source present at the meeting said that colleges affiliated with the National University, which offer Higher Secondary and Degree courses, already had the provision to include one teacher under the MPO scheme—this rule remains unchanged. Under the new decision, colleges offering Honours and Masters programs can include up to seven teachers under the MPO benefit.
An official, wishing to remain anonymous, said that Honours-level colleges will have five teachers eligible for MPO inclusion. However, if the same college also offers Masters programs, two additional teachers will receive the MPO benefits.
