Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has released a list of potential candidates for 237 constituencies. In Dhaka-15, BNP has nominated Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton to contest with the party’s symbol, the paddy sheaf. In the same constituency, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, will run as the party’s candidate.

On Monday (3 November), BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the names at a press conference held at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan. Before the announcement, the party’s Standing Committee, led by Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, finalized the primary list of candidates.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “After 16 long years, we are heading toward a democratic election scheduled for February. We are announcing a list of potential candidates for around 237 constituencies. For the seats where our partners in the joint movement announce candidates, BNP will coordinate accordingly.”
