The Supreme Court’s full court meeting has decided to promote more than 300 judges to the position of District Judge.
The decision was made on Tuesday (4 November) during a full court meeting attended by all judges of the Supreme Court. The meeting also discussed whether District Judge Kamarunnahar—who previously lost her judicial powers for granting bail to an accused in the Raintree case despite an Appellate Division stay—would have her judicial authority restored. The matter has been assigned to the GA Committee for review.
The full court meeting was held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., presided over by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed. More than 20 agenda items were discussed, with most judges from both the Appellate and High Court Divisions in attendance.
