Meeting Between Chief Adviser And Turkish Parliamentary Delegation

A five-member parliamentary delegation, led by Mehmet Akif Yılmaz — President of the Turkey-Bangladesh Parliamentary Friendship Group and member of the Turkish Parliament — held a meeting with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. The meeting took place on Monday (3 November) at the state guesthouse Jamuna.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, and humanitarian assistance.

Mehmet Akif Yılmaz said that Turkey and Bangladesh share deep cultural and historical ties. He highlighted the strong and friendly relationship between the two nations.

Yılmaz stated that the delegation visited the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar last Sunday and was briefed on the humanitarian activities conducted by various Turkish government and non-government organizations, particularly the Turkish field hospital.

The Chief Adviser expressed gratitude for Turkey’s unwavering support for the Rohingya community and encouraged Turkish entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh. He said Bangladesh has the potential to become a manufacturing hub for exports to advanced markets.

The Chief Adviser said, “Since taking charge of the interim government, I have been focusing on deepening close relations with Turkey.”

Highlighting the prolonged injustice and suffering of the Rohingya people, he said, “The plight of the Rohingya community is one of the most tragic humanitarian crises of our time. They have faced extreme persecution simply because they are Muslims, and their citizenship has been taken away. After eight years in refugee camps, Rohingya children have very limited access to education and future opportunities. This situation can lead to frustration and instability.”

The Chief Adviser expressed sincere gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife for their continued support and solidarity toward Bangladesh.

He added, “Bangladesh is ready to work hand in hand with Turkey to unlock new opportunities for the future of both nations.”
