In October, Bangladesh received $256.34 million in remittances from overseas, which, at an exchange rate of Tk 122 per dollar, amounts to over Tk 31,131 crore. On average, the country received $8.27 million per day during the month.
The information comes from the latest report released by Bangladesh Bank on Sunday (Nov. 2). According to the central bank, remittances in October were distributed through various channels:
- State-owned banks: $47.78 million
- Specialized banks: $24.02 million
- Private banks: $183.86 million
- Foreign banks: $0.667 million
In comparison, September saw $268.556 million in remittances, August $242.189 million, and July $247.8 million.
For the 2024-25 fiscal year, total remittances reached $30.33 billion, a nearly 27% increase from $23.74 billion in 2023-24. This marks the highest annual remittance inflow in Bangladesh’s history. The sustained rise in remittances has provided stability to the economy and strengthened the availability of dollars in the market.
