A government investigation committee has recommended relocating all primary Air Force training outside Dhaka in the interest of public safety. The findings were submitted to the Chief Adviser on Wednesday, November 5.
At a briefing held later in the day at the Foreign Service Academy, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared details of the report with the media. He said the committee’s key recommendation is to shift all initial Air Force training activities away from the capital to reduce safety risks.
The press secretary noted additional safety concerns in the report, including that a particular building did not have proper approval under the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC). The structure was required to have at least three staircases, but only one had been built.
Another major recommendation calls for the urgent expansion of the existing runways in Barishal and Bogura to support operational and emergency needs, he added.
